Here Is The Grape News
From what a study has found just recently, this would seem to be the case, the study done by the medicinal journal of foods, supports the fact grapefruit does help with weight loss. The people who took part in the study, had half a grapefruit just before a meal and this resulted in a weight-loss of between three point six to ten pounds.
This was measured over a three-month period and another group were also monitored and their loss was only a pound, grapefruit has something in it that lowers insulin levels which is important, if you have too much insulin in your body after a meal this will tell your body to store fat which is what you don't want. Lower Insulin levels will tell your body to burn fat which is what you want.
This is good news for people with diabetes, grapefruit also has powerful antioxidant properties which is also good news, some more research was done in Israel, and it was found that by having just one grapefruit a day, this was enough to lower cholesterol levels by quite a significant amount they went down by 15% and triglyceride's went down by 17%.
However there is one thing that you must take to caution if you are on any medications such as statins which lower cholesterol, antidepressants, antibiotics, blockers for calcium, anticoagulants blood thinning medications, if you are unsure about whether you can eat grapefruit or not please consult your doctor or a qualified dietician.
