Bananas are a great way to boost your health as well as helping with weight loss with a low glycemic rating of 30 that's great news if your concerned with blood sugar issues. That is the unripened value just quoted.

Main health benefit's of the banana are.
  • Low in calories 86 or thereabouts per banana which is good from a weight-loss perspective
  • Good source of potassium which is known for helping lower blood pressure
  • Can help with digestion so if you have diarrhoea or any other digestion problems eat plenty of banana's
  • low in sodium and fat
  • 2 grams of fibre per banana

Bananas are also a great source of fattening glucose or fructose and have no protein. I love bananas, but I cannot eat them (two) unless I have skipped a meal. Too bad they have calories.

I eat them on odd occasions only to supplement what I eat

They are great energy foods and if you wack them in the blender with some OJ and a few other fruits they make smoothies.

If you are diabetic they are top of your list . My wife (diabetic) loves them but make sure you don't eat them over ripe (brown) as the sugar content increases dramatically.
